Enrichment Friday
Our curriculum is underpinned by activities which excite and engage children throughout the week.
However, at Wychbold we widen our curriculum offer to explore and enhance learning outside the classroom. This happens by creating small groups of children who are then taught by specialist leaders, and whilst the school buzzes with excitement on most days, you always know when it is Enrichment Friday!
For 2021-2022, the activities are:
Year 1 and Year 2
Archery and Fencing
This is led by our Sports coaches KITS Academy
Mini Vets
Led by Miss Price who used to be a vet, the children learn about how to care for pets.
Wellbeing
How to take time to looks after our own mental health including nature walks and yoga.
Mini-Masterchefs
Supporting our sustainability curriculum, this teaches children the love of cooking from scratch. The children get to take their tasty results home with them.
Year 3 and Year 4
Outdoor Adventure
This is led by our own trained teacher, Mrs Hounsell, who leads the sessions including low-ropes, tunnelling and orienteering at Upton Warren Aztec Centre
Forest School
Led by Forest Schools qualified Ms Bromley, the children explore and develop skills in our fantastic Forest Schools area.
Sustainable Heroes
Led by Mrs Howitt, this group visits Hanbury Hall to see for ourselves how they manage their sustainable gardens. We bring our inspiration back to school to develop our own sustainble garden to support the Global Goals.
Music
Led by our talented music teacher, Miss Warren, the music group are introduced to the recorder but also have fun exploring sounds and music in new and creative ways.
