Our Staff

We are extremely fortunate to have a superb team of dedicated staff at Wychbold who are all, regardless of their roles, committed to ensuring the best outcomes for our pupils. Please read on to find out a little more about us.

Head Teacher

Mrs Howitt has been Headteacher of Wychbold since 1st September 2016 and has overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the school. 

"I am thrilled to be headteacher of Wychbold.  The children and staff are so enthusiatic and engaged in learning.  I am looking forward to working with the team to develop new ways to make learning exciting and purposeful."

Wren's Nursery

Mrs Kathryn Roberts - Nursery Manager

Mrs Rachel Mann - Early Years Advanced Apprentice

The team in Wrens are highly experienced Early Years Practitioners who are constantly seeking opportunities to make learning creative and engaging for very young children.  


Robin's Reception

Miss Bromley (class teacher), Mrs Hounsell-Hardy (class teacher 1 day)

 Mrs Stafford (teaching assistant) and Mrs Robinson (early years transition teaching assistant)

Miss Helen Bromley has worked at Wychbold for 8 years and is also the Early Years Manager.  Mrs Hounsell-Hardy also teaches in Robins’ one day a week.

Supporting the children in Robins full time is Mrs Stafford and alongside her Mrs Robinson will be supporting both Robins and Wrens throughout the year



Starling's Class Year 1

Miss Sarah Neal (class teacher and English Lead)

Miss Harbun (teaching assistant and after school club supervisor) 


Miss Neal, our Read, Write Inc. Leader, is working hard with the Starlings children this year to give them the best start to Key Stage 1.  This is alongside our Mastery curriculum in maths ensuring that children excel in their early experience of school.



Owl's Class Year 2

Mrs Atkinson (Deputy Headteacher)

Mrs Atkinson is our Mastery Maths Lead and is constantly engaging and exciting the children with maths.  She will also be guiding and supporting

the children in their key skills as they apply their Read, Write Inc. into their extended writing.

Falcon's Class Year 3

We are delighted that Miss Todd has joined us this term.  Her enthusiasm and energy will mean that the children will be having a busy year filled with exciting activities pined with high expectations!

Eagles’ Class Year 4

Miss Warren - Class Teacher

Mrs Wright - Teaching Assistant


Miss Warren is delighted to be teaching Year 4 this year.  With her passion for English, art and music, she will be delivering a curriculum of rich and in depth experiences for the children.



PPA teacher and SENDCo

Mrs Hounsell teaches throughout the school for three days a week. Throughout the year, Mrs Hounsell will teach all aspects of PE including; football, rugby, OAA, hockey, games and athletics, mutli skills and ball skills. The children will have an opportunity to work both indoors and outdoors to develop their individual skills and team game skills. 

Mrs Hounsell will also be supporting the children who have special educational needs, alongside their families, ensuring that the highest quality support and provision is offered to the children to ensure that they thrive and enjoy school.

Support Staff

  •  Mrs Maycroft – Intervention Teaching Assistant

  • We are delighted to have Mrs Maycroft as our intervention teaching assistant.  If any children need extra support, with their reading, number, writing or fine or gross motor skills, they are supported in the bright and friendly Aviary in small groups to enable them to make progress.  Children may also be supported with their social skills or confidence in a Nurture Session.  

  • Breakfast Club - Swallows 

  • Mrs Wright, Mrs Portman and Miss Smith provide the care and support to the children who come to Breakfast Club
  • After School Club - Swifts

  • Mrs Maycroft, Miss Harbun, Miss Smith, Mrs Robinson and Mr Davis are our team who work throughout the week to provide fun activities for our children.
  • Office Staff

  •  Mrs Giddings - School Administrator

  • Mrs Strawbridge – School Administrator

  • Looks after all aspects of the office management including meet and greet, administration, finance and health and safety. She is a very busy lady.

  • Mrs Hellen Fines – Site Security and Maintenance

  • Mrs Hellen Fines ensures that our building is opened and locked up every day and helps to ensure all the maintenance jobs are kept up to date.  She is supported every day in cleaning the school by Mrs Tania Davis.

  • Lunchtime Supervisors

  • Mrs Millward, Mrs Amess, Mrs Talbot, Mrs Wright and Miss Grubb all help to supervise our pupils during lunchtime.
